He's MY President.

If you're following this blog you probably don't have much doubt that President Elect Obama wasn't my first choice for commander in chief. That having been said, let me tell you where I stand now that the election is over.

President Elect Obama is MY president now. He wasn't my first choice (but then McCain was my next to last pick from the Republican side of the ticket - I wrote in Romney in the general election). During the election the people of my conutry voiced their decision.

When I was a manager at EDS I used to tell my people that there is a time to huddle and a time to play. During the huddle I encouraged folks to voice opposition to the plan, argue about what is wrong and why we shouldn't do it. I liked to surround myself with folks who were opinionated and agressive. I must admit, we had some fairly rowdy businesses meetings.

Then, once a decision was made we moved from the "huddle" mode to the "play" mode and I would expect my team to all go with the decision, regardless of how they felt about it during the huddle. You can't succeed when everyone is running a different play. You just can't.

So the election is over and the play has been called. I spoke agressively against him during the campaigns but that was the huddle.

I just want to go on the record and say Barack Obama is MY Pesident now. I will pray for his well being and for God to influence him and bless us through him during the next four years.

I hope you will join me.

Going Out and Getting Ripped.

Michelle got me a USB turntable for my 51st. I've been using it to turn my old vinyl into MP3. It's interesting in that it reminds me what I used to listen to. Here are some hilights:

  1. Three Linda Rondstadt albums. Favorite songs include "Heatwave" and "That'll be the day"
  2. Two Bob Seger albums. Favorite songs include "Old Time Rock & Role" and "Night Moves"
  3. Elton John's Greatest Hits Volume 2. "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" and "The Bitch is Back"
  4. Joan Jett & the Blackhearts "I Love Rock and Roll"
  5. The Soundtrack from Grease (can't pick a favorite, all 4 sides are excellent).
  6. Ozark Mountain Daredevils "Jackie Blue, If You Want to Get to Heaven" and who could ever deny "Chicken Train"
  7. Forigner "Feels like the First Time" and "Cold as Nice".

I've got about 70 more to do (The best of Lobo is currently in the quene with everyone's favorite "Me and You and a dog named Boo"). It's got me staying up late at night and reliving my High School Years.
